Pittsylvania Public Schools
Asbestos Design, Project Monitoring,
and Triennial Re-Inspection
Chatham, Virginia

HDH provided design documents for the removal of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) which were to be disturbed by mechanical and cosmetic renovations at seven schools and ADA upgrades at three additional sites. A complete survey was performed at each location, incorporating current Asbestos Management Plan information. Initial plans involved encapsulating the floor tile with carpeting. Competitive bidding and tight specifications allowed removal of all floor tile and replacement with new tile or carpeting keeping within the existing budget. In addition, HDH provided Project Monitoring at all locations and Construction Administration services in conjunction with a Construction Management firm hired by the school system to oversee the Facilities Management Program. HDH performed the EPA required AHERA Triennial Re-inspection encompassing all seventeen schools and three support facilities which comprise the school system.

Portsmouth Public Schools Nine Various Schools Asbestos Abatement Portsmouth, Virginia
	Included in one of nine locations involved in the Asbestos Abatement / Architectural Replacement Project for Portsmouth Public Schools during the summer of 1992, A.J. Mapp Junior High required the most extensive amount of removal and replacement activity. The scope of work as designed by HDH consisted of the abatement of asbestos containing transite ceiling tile, thermal systems insulation, such as pipe insulation, mudded elbows and tees, duct insulation, and floor tile. Replacement of all the above mentioned with non-asbestos containing materials as well as a new lighting system meeting the current Department of Education standards, completed the renovation of this facility. Construction administration services were provided by HDH throughout the completion of all nine project locations.

Patrick County, Virginia Patrick County Courthouse Roof Replacement, Asbestos and Sprinkler System Stuart, Virginia

	HDH Associates, P.C. performed services for the Courthouse in Patrick County, Virginia consisting of asbestos abatement, roof replacement, and provisions for a sprinkler system. All work was performed in a manner to preserve the architectural character of this fine old courthouse.
